The wheel

A wheel strategy tracker that adds up every cycle

An illustrative example.

How a cycle is recorded

  1. Sell a cash-secured put. Record a sell to open; the premium counts from that day.
  2. Assigned? Mark the put as assigned, and the purchase of the shares at the strike is created for you.
  3. Sell covered calls. Write calls against the shares, and roll them in one step when you need more time.
  4. Called away. When the call is assigned, the shares are sold at the strike and the cycle's P&L is complete.

Premium in the cost basis, or on its own

Some traders lower the cost of assigned shares by the premium they collected; others keep premium as separate income. myTickrs does either, so your average price matches how you think about the trade. Realized P&L uses FIFO.

Premium income by month and year

Option P&L and premium income can be viewed by period, and every open contract shows its days to expiry, premium and break-even, so you can see which puts and calls need attention this week.

Rolls that keep the thread

Rolling a put or a call to a new strike or expiry closes the old contract and opens the new one in one step. The two stay linked, with their combined P&L, so a rolled position still reads as one trade.
